Dog Bones and a GIVEAWAY

If there is something I love more than cooking, it has got to be my dogs! I love teaching, and I love my family – but the Mr. and I both agree that if we didn’t like dogs our relationship would have never gotten off the ground! Donner was Rich’s Dog before we met and after we had been together a few months, Boca entered our lives. They are our 4-legged Children, and as any pet-owner can attest… we would do anything for these dogs!

Before we got married, I was trying to determine a good Groom’s Gift for Rich and I came across Nose Print Jewelry. I was thinking of doing a set of Cufflinks, but Rich said he didn’t want them (and really, how much use does a guy really get out of Cufflinks?). I then came across Nicole’s MetroPawlitan Art page on Etsy and read her back-story as to why she got into doing this noseprint jewelry. It is quite obvious that Nicole is a “do anything for her dogs” type of Dog-Owner. In addition to being a dog-lover, Nicole is one of the sweetest people out there! I told her all about Donner and his Epilepsy and how he is Rich’s Best Buddy. She made the most awesome NosePrint Keyring of Donner’s Nose which I presented to Rich at our Rehearsal Dinner. Donner’s nose now lives on Rich’s keyring everyday so his buddy can go to work with him!

Nicole has agreed to do a very special giveaway, just for my readers! By entering through the RaffleCopter  below, you will be eligible to win a Bronze Pendant of your furry friend’s nose! She’ll send you the kit to take the noseprint (with great instructions, and she has some videos as well which are beyond helpful). After you send her back your prints, in just a few short weeks you will have a print of your very own! You will receive the kit in time for Christmas so you can even give this as a gift to your favorite pet owner! In addition to just doing keyrings, she can do bracelets and necklaces as well! How cool would a Charm Bracelet be of all of the noses of your furry friends (talk about “bling”)!!

And while your four-legged friends are helping you make a great gift – why not do something for them!? These Homemade Dog Treats are SO EASY to make, and you know exactly what you are giving your dog. Make up a batch of these, treat your dogs this holiday season or even wrap some up so your dogs can gift them to every other doggy-friend they have. As an added bonus, these doggie treats are so delicious that you can share one with your dog – Peanut Butter Treats for all!

Homemade Dog TreatsThank Goodness our dogs know the “still” trick where they balance treats on their noses until you tell them “OK” which allowed me to get some good photos of the treats with their adorable noses!

Dog Bones and a GIVEAWAY — 44 Comments

  1. I’d love to win this! You know that my Maui girl is my heart…and my children’s very best friend! Great giveaway!!!!!!

    • This is the best gift (for yourself OR others), any Pet Mom knows how our babies are close to our hearts (and their noses are close to ours as well)!!

      • I thought this would’ve great for a friend of mine. She recently rescued a boxer mix who has become the center of her world.

  2. My puppies love for me to make their treats. They all sit patiently in the kitchen while I roll out the treats and put them in the oven. All I have to do it wipe up the drool afterwards and enjoy their enthusiasm when the treat is cool and ready to eat. I gave my hubby a Metropawlitan nose print for Christmas last year and he loved it.

    • Your hubby is a lucky man (now you need one)!! Wiping up drool is exactly what happened after I took these photos Kathy, I totally hear you on that!

  3. What I like most about Remington is his loyalty to our family. He is a living companion to all of us!

  4. I love that my cat is super cuddly every morning! He is kind of a dick most of the rest of the day but in the morning, he is the sweetest cuddler in bed!

    • HAHA – isn’t it amazing how our pets can go from the sweetest things ever to such jerks in the blink of an eye? By the looks of your page, I have a feeling you have quite a few noses you need to get made!!!

  5. Dogs digestive systems are not made to handle wheat flour, or, in fact, gluten or grains of any kind. It would do well to find an alternative for the flour in this recipe…. especially if you love your dogs as much as it looks like you do in these amazing photos!

  6. What I like most about my Chi Jimmy is He is a little guy who is unaware of his size! No matter how big the dog he is the leader of the pack…This applies to my 2 Cat’s Smokey and Tippy…..He keeps them in line too!! Also this applies to me as well…lol…I do his bidding, but I would not have it any other way!! 🙂

  7. I like that he’s always happy and eager to greet the world- but especially to spend time with me =)

  8. My two furbabies are so many years apart, it is like having an old man and a toddler! Makes for interesting days … And nights! My Jakey has been with me through all three of my cancers, so now that he is older and not having as many good days as bad, I love to make each day special for him! Buster came to me through a dear friend last year and has been a joy when days were not always joyful! Both of my boys are spoiled and they will be getting lots of these yummy treats! I think the nose prints are precious and priceless!

    • Dogs have as many personalities as kids (but don’t give as much lip). I can only imagine the craziness in the house with such different ages, and it is so hard to see our furbabies suffer!

  9. Our dog loves homemade dog treats. I’m glad to get some new recipes so that he won’t get too tired of any of them. Thanks for the recipes.

    • I am LOVING the variety of homemade dog treats that there are, so healthy and pretty darn tasty too… we watch what goes in the mouth of the 2 legged family members, feed the 4-legged ones right too!

  10. I love these pictures… how adorable are they balancing their treats on those cute noses…. My dogs are in “Puppy Heaven” but what a lovely gift that would make for Christmas!!!

    • They do not need to be refrigerated – I would say they would last a couple weeks at least in a container… my pups didn’t allow them to last too long without all getting eaten!

  15. I think the next time YOU eat a cookie you should be made to balance it on your nose for 3 minutes before you can eat it.
Just give them a treat! There really is no reason to make your dog do humiliating tricks for a treat. If anything use treats a positive reinforcement when learning good doggie skills.
You wouldn’t make your children do stupid tricks. Or would you???.

    • Thanks for your feedback – I do feel that dogs actually enjoy showing off a skill in order to make their humans smile… the same way we work off of positive reinforcement; dogs do too – the look of joy on a humans face when a dog does a trick is almost as much of a reward as the treat itself!
